Friday, November 04, 2005 Macon, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference named ETSU’s Rhys Davies October Golfer of the Month. Davies continues to climb in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, reaching third in the last poll released. For the month, Davies won the individual title at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges with three consecutive sub-par rounds and earlier in the month placed third overall at the VCU/Mantaponni Springs Shootout. The Brigend, Wales native currently holds a 69.0 scoring average and has six sub-70 scores in nine rounds played. He will be going for his eighth win in the last 12 months at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on November 4-6. If he can capture medallist honors, Davies would match Tiger Woods’ record of eight wins in a span of a year. The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Golfer of the Month awards on the first Thursday of every month during the 2005-06 campaign. The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson. |
