JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Earlier this week, ETSU senior Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) won the 2006 Scratch Players Championship with a chip-in birdie on the fourth playoff hole at the Somerby Golf Club in Byron, Minn. Davies, a two-time PING first-team All-American who finished last season No. 4 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, ended regulation tied for the lead at 15 under par with 2005 Walker Cup teammate Oliver Fisher. Each shot 34 on Somerby Golf Club's back nine Thursday after the final round was shortened to nine holes by a 2 1/2-hour rain delay.

Both players then pared the first three playoff holes, before Davies chipped in for birdie and the win on the par-3 17th.
