Tuesday, September 19, 2006 BOWLING GREEN, OHIO – Fredric Sundberg and Kyle Spahr finished second and third, respectively, and Campbell University was runner-up in the team standings after Tuesday’s final round of the John Piper Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament hosted by Bowling Green State University. The event was originally scheduled for 54 holes at the par-72, 7064-yard Stoneridge Golf Club, but was shortened to 36 due to weather. Eastern Kentucky claimed team honors with a one-under-par 575 (288-287). Campbell was second at 589 (294-295), nine strokes better than host Bowling Green in the 14-school field. EKU’s Trey Bowling won individual honors with a seven-under 137 (69-68). Sundberg, a junior from Gothenburg, Sweden, finished at one-under 143 (71-72), while Spahr, a senior from Mundelein, Ill., was tied for third at even-par 144 (74-70). Sundberg recorded seven birdies in the 36-hole event and played the par-four holes even. Ten days after winning his first collegiate tournament, Spahr was four-under on par-5 holes and even on the par threes while notching six birdies. |
