KSU Makes Debut as Men's Golf Championship Tees Off

Waverly, Ga. – Stetson’s Steven Neidermire and Kennesaw State’s Alex Jones were the first members of the field to take to the course as the 2007 Atlantic Sun Men’s Golf Championship got underway at 7:30 a.m. this morning at The Golf Club at Sanctuary Cove in Waverly, Ga.

With his swing of the stick, Jones became the first individual from KSU to compete in the Atlantic Sun Men’s Golf Championship. The Owls, who joined the conference in 2005, are competing in their first conference tournament.

Duncan Stewart, the two-time defending individual champion, is set to tee off in the final pairing of the day with North Florida’s Jeff Dennis and ETSU’s Rhys Davies. Dennis was the 2006 A-Sun Freshman of the Year while Davies was tabbed the A-Sun’s 2006 Player of the Year. Along with his two individual titles, Stewart was also selected as the 2005 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year.

Stewart, Dennis and Davies tee off at 10:40 a.m.

As the first round continues, the event is expecting winds of 15-20mph.
