Thursday, June 22, 2006 DEAL, England - Three All-Atlantic Sun performers advanced to the match play portion of the 2006 British Amateur Championship held at Royal St. George's Golf Course. Two of the league's best golfers reached the round of 32 before falling. Two-time A-Sun Championship medallist Duncan Stewart of Jacksonville and A-Sun Player of the Year Rhys Davies of ETSU each advanced to the the third round. ETSU's Cian McNamara fell on the first day of match play. While his attempt to win a British Amateur comes to an end this season, Davies, a former British Boys Champion, will now turn his attention to playing as a member of the European team in the Palmer Cup later this summer while Stewart plans a run at qualifying for the 2006 British Open. |
