Courtesy GWUSports.com Tuesday, September 11, 2007 FARMVILLE, Va. - Up by only a few strokes heading into the last day of competition, the Gardner-Webb men's golf team came out on fire in the final round of play at the Poplar Hill Intercollegiate and buried the field, winning by 16 strokes. The Bulldogs' three-round total of 869 (287-286-296) was a tournament record. Ryan Bell and Brendan Madden (Duquesne) each shot a three-round total of (-3) 213. Forced into a playoff to determine the individual champion, each had a par on the first two playoff holes before Madden finished a stroke ahead of Bell on the third playoff hole. |
