MACON, Ga. - Building off a successful freshman campaign, ETSU sophomore Rhys Enoch started the 2008 fall season strong, highlighted by a win at the Shoal Creek Invitational to win his first Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month award, the conference office announced on Wednesday

At an event featuring seven of the top 30 teams in the country, Enoch fired a 3-under-par 69 to take the lead after the second round at Shoal Creek and went on to post a 1-under 71 in the final round, capturing the individual championship for his first collegiate win. Enoch, a native of Cornwall, England, joined another former ETSU player with the same first name as winners of the Shoal Creek event. Rhys Davies captured the title in 2005. After two events, Enoch currently leads the 18th-ranked Buccaneers with a 73.5 stroke average. Since ETSU joined the conference four years ago, a member of the Buccaneer men’s golf team has won 14 of the 19 Golfer of the Month awards.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is an 11-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University.

Other Top Performers

Danny Amundson, Belmont (Sr. - Sioux Falls, S.D. - Finance) -- Posted two top-10 finishes in his two September tournaments – T6th at the South Alabama Fall Intercollegiate and a T9th at the Vanderbilt Mason Rudolph Championship, five of his six rounds have been under par; Leads the team with a 70.7 average.

Zak Drescher, Campbell (So. - Landisville, Pa. - Trust Management) – Compiled a 73.5 stroke average over his first two events, including a career-low tying round of 66 at the Ron Moore Invitational; Finished six at the event, marking third-straight top ten dating back to last season.

Devin Patel, Mercer (Fr. - Celebration, Fla. - Undeclared) -- Turned in top-20 finishes at both the Aldila Scenic City Invitational on Sept. 7-9 as well as the Hawks Invitational on Sept. 29-30. Devin was Mercer’s top finisher at the Aldila Scenic City Invitational, fired a 67 (-5) in the event’s last 18 holes

Michael Tulacz, Kennesaw State (Sr. - Connelly, N.Y. - Business Management) -- Placed in the top 10 in both of the Owls events, shooting par or better in all six of his rounds including four under-par outings; Carded 12 birdies and a pair of eagles at Vanderbilt’s Mason Rudolph Invitational.
