Wednesday, October 22, 2008 Former JU golfer Russell Knox has kicked off his professional career quite well. Knox was recently named NGA Hooters Tour "Rookie of the Year" and will be competing in the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School this week at the St. Johns Golf and Country Club. A year ago, Knox advanced through the pre-qualifying tournament and just missed going to the second stage of Q-School by one shot. This year, Knox’s game is in fine form after winning more than $64,000 on the NGA Hooters Tour, ranking fourth on the money list. In 18 tournaments this season, Knox has made the cut 13 times and finished with a 70.73 stroke average. He has five top 10 finishes, tying for second twice.
