Williams Wins FGCU’s First Golfer of the Month Award

MACON, Ga. – FGCU’s Patrick Williams secured the first Atlantic Sun Men’s Golfer of the Month award in program history after claiming the Medalist honor at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Williams, a sophomore from Toronto, submitted a fall season-best and took top individual honors with a 210 (73-67-70) score at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational. Williams’ second round score of five-under, 67, matched the low 18-hole score for the tournament. The Eagles set a tournament record 851 (283-281-287) and took first place out of nine teams. The Eagles bested a field that included teams from Stetson, USC Upstate, Lipscomb and Jacksonville.

Following a successful fall campaign that included team victories at the Mission Inn Intercollegiate and FGCU Men’s Invitational, in addition the Stetson/CFSC Invitational, the Eagles head to Houston to open the spring season at the Rice Intercollegiate Tournament on February 14.

Other Top Performers

Matt Moot – Campbell (Jr. – Johnstown, Pa. – Business Administration) Fired three consecutive under-par rounds at the season ending Renaissance Invitational to lead the Camels to a third place finish. Moot’s first round 65, 36-hole (133), and 54-hole (204) totals were lows for the fall.

Sam Ryder – Stetson (So. – Longwood, Fla. – Undeclared) Wrapped up his torrid fall season with a runner-up showing at Victoria Hills GC. His four-under par 68 in the final round allowed him to vault up the standings from seventh to second.
