Thursday, June 10, 2010 NORMAN, Okla. - For the first time in three years, two Atlantic Sun golfers earned All-America recognition from PING in UNF's Sean Dale (Second Team) and ETSU's Rhys Enoch (Honorable Mention). Dale was named a Division I PING Second-Team All-America on Wednesday, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He joins nine other golfers around the nation receiving second-team recognition for the 2010 season. “What a great year for Sean,” said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. “He has been a steady player for the team all year and one we knew would compete to win each week. Being an All-America is a hard thing to accomplish and is something that Sean can be proud of.” Dale tied for 25th at the NCAA DI Men’s National Championships, scoring a 1-under 215 (72-74-69) while leading the Ospreys to a 14th place team finish. A week after completing play at the NCAA Championships, junior Buccaneer standout Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) was one of 30 Division I golfers to receive PING All-American Honorable Mention honors, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of American Wednesday afternoon. Enoch, who qualified for the NCAA Championships after earning a share of the East Regional crown back on May 22, is the first Buccaneer golfer to receive All-American accolades since Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) obtained the honor in 2008 and is the 33rd selection in ETSU history. This season has been a productive one for Enoch, as he was named to the PING All-Region Team, while also being selected to the European Palmer Cup squad. In addition, Enoch lconfed the Bucs in stroke average and was named Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Month back in November. “Rhys had a strong season for us and I am delighted to have him receive this honor,” said head ETSU men’s golf coach Fred Warren. “We look forward to having Rhys back for one more season and hopefully he can build off this successful year.” The conference last placed multiple golfers on the PING All-America teams in 2007 when ETSU's Rhys Davies made the First Team and Gareth Shaw earned Honorable Mention status. |
