UNF’s Phelan Claims September Golfer of the Month

MACON, Ga. – Reigning Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year Kevin Phelan, from UNF, opened his sophomore campaign by winning his second A-Sun Golfer of the Month Award, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Phelan finished fifth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate leading the Ospreys to a tie for seventh at an event that featured 11 top-75 schools.

GOLFER OF THE MONTH:
Kevin Phelan, UNF (So. – Waterford, Ireland – Business Management)

  • Second A-Sun Golfer of the Month award
  • Fifth place finish in the season-opening Wolf Run Intercollegiate
  • Ninth Top 10 showing of his career and fourth Top Five performance
  • Ospreys’ top performer at the event helping UNF to a tie for seventh (of 15 teams)
  • Finished with a two-over-par total of 215 after carding rounds of 72,72 and even-par 71

 

OTHER NOMINEES:

  • Sam Ryder (Jr., Stetson) – took third at Elon Sea Trail Intercollegiate; broke par first two rounds
  • Dan Mazziotta (Sr., FGCU) – tied for fourth at John Dallio Memorial; fourth career top-5 finish
