Kennesaw Men's Golf Wins Rees Jones Intercollegiate

DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team won a share of the Rees Jones Intercollegiate title Tuesday at Haig Point Club. The Owls finished 54-holes tied with Liberty University (902, +38) after posting a 309 on the final 18-holes. This makes the third consecutive tournament the Black and Gold have finished in the top five.

“It feels great to get another win on a great golf course,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “We did not play our best golf this week, but winning is always tough and this event will help us be a better team.”

Junior Matt Nagy won the individual title shooting a (70-73-73/216). Nagy was the only competitor in a field of 55 to finish three rounds even par, beating his closest opponent Robert Karlsson of Liberty University by four strokes. 

“It feels awesome to win my first college tournament,” Nagy said. “I was pleased that my short game was good all week.”

Junior Jeff Karlsson finished tied for sixth as the Sweden native turned in a score of  (77-71-77/225).  Sophomore Ben Greene tied for 21st shooting (83-70-82/235), freshmen Jonathan Klotz tied for 25th (75-78-84/237) and senior Chad Wilson tied for 30th (79-82-77/238).
