UNF's Phelan Wins First Golfer of the Week Honor

MACON, Ga. – UNF’s Kevin Phelan opened the spring portion of the golf season by tying for third at the JU Invitational. For his effort, he won the first Atlantic Sun’s Golfer of the Week award, the conference announced on Wednesday.

 

GOLFER OF THE WEEK:
Kevin Phelan, UNF (So. – Waterford, Ireland – Business Management)

  • First A-Sun Golfer of the Week award
  • Recorded a pair of sub-par rounds to tie for third at JU Invitational
  • Finished as UNF’s top performer as the team tied for second behind No. 1 Florida
  • Earned third top-five finish of 2010-11
  • Second round 69 (-3) was his second lowest round of the year
  • Finished event with eight birdies including five against just one bogey over final 36 holes of play

OTHER NOMINEES:

  • Trey Douglas (So., Jacksonville) – Finished second at Ponte Vedra Invitational
  • Stefan Labuschagne (Jr., Mercer) – Post a season-low 72 in the final round at the JU Invitational
  • Paul O’Kane (Sr., ETSU) – Tied for 14th at JU Invitational, carded a 3-under 69 in the final round
