Atlantic Sun Men's Golfers Begin Regional Play

MACON, Ga. - Atlantic Sun Conference champion Kennesaw State makes its first NCAA Regional appearance while UNF makes its third appearance in the last four years and two Campbell individual tee off on Thursday.

The Owls return to the links as they travel to Ocala, Fla., for the NCAA Florida Regional Championship. The venue for the event will be the Golden Ocala Golf Club as the No. 43 ranked Owls compete against 13 other teams and five individuals.

"This is a very exciting opportunity for our team and the program to compete in post season play," head coach Jay Moseley said. "We are proud of what we have accomplished thus far, but we set out in August to make it to the NCAA Championships so we know there is still a tall task at hand. We are capable of competing with all the teams here and we plan on going out and playing our best and proving we belong."

Four teams in the top-25 of Golfstat will join the Black and Gold, No.1 seed Florida (5), No.2 and reigning National Champions Augusta State (6), No.3 Arkansas (17) and No.4 Oregon (20). There are four teams ranked in the top-50 including No. 5 seed North Carolina State (28), No. 6 Central Florida (32), No.7 Baylor (42) and the No. 8 seed Owls ranked 43rd.

UNF begins play Thursday as the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Colorado (South Central) Regional being held at the Colorado National Golf Club.

 The three-day, 54-hole Colorado Regional will be contested over a par 72, 7,753-yard layout for the Colorado National course. UNF is paired with No. 7 seed TCU and No. 9 seed New Mexico State in round one with tee times beginning at 8:50 a.m. (MT) from Hole No. 1.

North Florida has made six NCAA regional appearances at the Division I level including two straight and three in the last four seasons. The Ospreys advanced to the NCAA Championship last season earning a final 14th-place finish in the championship event.

Vaita Guillaume and Matt Moot of Campbell University tee off Thursday morning in the first round of the NCAA Men's Golf Virginia Tech Regional at the Pete Dye River Course.

 

Guillaume and Moot were two of 10 individuals chosen along with 13 teams that will compete at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech.

The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six regional championships will advance to the NCAA finals, May 31-June 5 at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla.
