Thursday, August 25, 2011 ERIN, Wis. - Former Atlantic Sun Conference Champion and ETSU Buccaneer Michael Stewart advanced to the match play portion of the 111th U.S. Amateur Championship. As one of 64 individuals to qualify for the second leg of the event, Stewart will face Justin Thomas in Match 27 which is scheduled to begin Thursday morning. The 2009 A-Sun medalist shot a one-under par 141 for the two-day stroke play portion of the event to finish in a tie for 49th which was one shot clear of the cut line. The championship is being held at Erin Hills in Wisconsin which is playing at a record-setting length of 7760 yards. The USGA accepted over 6200 entries this year.
