MACON, Ga. - Reigning A-Sun Freshman of the Year Edward Figueroa shot three rounds in the 60s and put together FGCU's second-best 54-hole total (-12, 204) to finish tied for first while leading the Eagles to their third straight team title at the Cobra-Puma Invitational to earn #ASunMGolf Player of the Week honors.
Figueroa shot three straight rounds in the 60s to finish tied for first out of a field of 76 golfers at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational. The sophomore carded rounds of 69-66-69 (204) to finish -12 and just missed medalist honors as St. John's Ryan McCormick fired a final round of 67 to top Figueroa's 69.
Figueroa put together the second-best tournament in terms of low 54-hole total in program history, second only to his performance last year at the same event in which he shot a 200 (-16). In Sunday's opening two rounds he also shot the second-best score relative to par through the first 36 holes of a tournament in program history (-9). The team victory is FGCU's first of the season and the third straight Cobra-PUMA title.
