MACON, Ga. - As the collegiate golf scene hits full stride, A-Sun teams continue to make their mark in the national rankings. NCAA Tournament participant ETSU leads the way both individually and as a team.
Picking up where they left off a year ago with a trip to the NCAA Championships and Top 20 rankings throughout the season, the Buccaneers are currently ranked 10th in the Golfweek/Sagarin computer rankings and are picked 20th in the most recent GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. Individually, ETSU senior Rhys Davies is currently ranked 19th by Golfweek/Sagarin, while junior Gareth Shaw is ranked 22nd in the same listing.
Campbell and Jacksonville have also turned season opening victories into national respect. Both teams are receiving votes in the coaches poll while Campbell ranks 33rd in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings with JU checking in at 47th.
Individually, Campbell's Kyle Spahr leads all A-Sun golfers with his 11th place ranking by Golfweek. Kennesaw State's Kris Shepherd turns up three spots later to give the A-Sun two players in the top-15.
