GWU's Longshore Takes First Athlete of the Week Award

Macon, Ga. -- Gardner-Webb's Jeremy Longshore (Spartanburg, S.C./Education) kicks off the inaugural indoor track and field season as the first Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week.

Last Sunday, Longshore won the pole vault at the Appalachian Invitational with a jump of 14-feet, 11-inches. Overall, Gardner-Webb captured 16 top-10 finishes at the two-day meet.

The Bulldogs will be able to compete for an Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Championship for the first time in 2005-2006, as the league will hold its first such event at East Tennessee State to wrap up the season.

The Bulldogs will be back in action Jaunary 20-21, 2006 at the Niswonger Invitational.

The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the 2005 cross country season.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
