MACON, Ga.—Lincoln Gordon has been named the Atlantic Sun Male Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the third time the league office announced Wednesday afternoon. The sophomore at Campbell University has won the award each week that the Camels have had a competition.

Gordon becomes just the second male or female athlete in Atlantic Sun history to be named Track & Field Athlete of the Week three times in a season. Troy’s Michael Heck accomplished the feat during the 2005 outdoor season.

Gordon provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with his school-record jump of 50-10.25 feet at the UNC Invitational this past weekend. The Fuquay-Varina, N.C. native won the event for the third time in as many chances on the season.

"Lincoln is having a tremendous indoor season and this is just the beginning for him,” Campbell head coach Jim Patchell said. “He is a tremendous athlete and such a hard worker he will only get better as the season goes on. The training program that we use is structured so the athletes continue to progress as the season moves on and he still hasn’t peaked yet."

Gordon has broken his own school record in each of the three meets improving from 48-05.10 in the first meet, to 49-10.50 in the second meet, to his new record of 50-10.25 this past weekend.

He also holds the Atlantic Sun’s best long jump distance of the year (23-00.50), which he set two weeks ago at Liberty University.

Gordon and the rest of the Camels will compete in the first-ever Atlantic Sun Indoor Track & Field Championships on February 17 & 18 hosted by East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.
