Wednesday, February 17, 2010 MACON, Ga. - Kennesaw State’s Tremanie Grant pulled a solid double to earn A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week honors and Belmont’s Joe Frye posted a pair of solid tosses to earn Field Athlete Accolades.
Grant set an indoor school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds, finishing second in the event. He was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team that won the event and set a new indoor school record with a time of 3:19.60. Grant now holds three indoor school records in his young career; the 60-meter hurdles, the 4x400-meter relay, and the 55-meter hurdles, which he set on Jan. 31 with a time of 7.69 seconds.

Other Top Performers Josh McNair, Kennesaw State (Sr. - Throws - Hinesville, Ga. - Information Security and Assurance) – McNair performed spectacularly in three events at the Gene Anderson UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. on February 12. The Hinesville, Ga. native won the weight throw with a toss of 16.89 meters (55'5") and finished third in the shot put with a throw of 16.65 meters (54'7.5"). Ryan Chastain, Lipscomb (Sr. - Distance - Mitchell, Ind. - Mechanical Engineering) – Chastain continued his incredible indoor season with two second place finishes at the Hoosier Hills Invite at Indiana University on Friday. Both finishes also set new Lipscomb indoor track records. In the men’s mile, Ryan broke the oldest record in Lipscomb Indoor Track at the current distances. Ryan’s time of 4:11.31 surpassed Lipscomb legend Andy Russell’s mark of 4:12.34, set in 1968. James Post, UNF (Fr. - Middle Distance - Melbourne, Fla. - Psychology) – Post leads the A-Sun in the 800-meter after finishing third in the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational this past weekend. Gilbert Kemboi, USC Upstate (Fr. - Distance - Eldoret, Kenya - Nursing) – Competing in the mile run for the first time this season, Gilbert Kemboi raced to a seventh-place finish at the UNC Invitational on Friday. Kemboi set the new school-record with a time of 4:20.30, breaking the six-day-old mark that teammate David Dennison finished with last week. |
