Four A-Sun Weekly Winners Earn First Place at Meets

MACON, Ga. – All four of this week’s Atlantic Sun Conference Track & Field Weekly Award winners picked up victories at meets over the weekends with three setting personal records. UNF’s James Post claimed first in the mile run, while Kennesaw State’s Mackenzie Howe cruised to a victory in the 5,000m. In the field events, ETSU’s Ryan Beaver leaped to a triple jump win at the Liberty Open and Jacksonville’s Charlene Charles shattered her own school record in the pentathlon.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
James Post, UNF (Distance – So. – Melbourne, Fla. – Construction Management)
• First Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Took first place in the mile run and teamed up for a first-place finish in the DMR
• Lowered personal record in the mile by nearly five seconds (4:13.31) at Jimmy Carnes Invitational
• Leads the A-Sun in mile run by almost a second; DMR time tops in A-Sun and 96th in NCAA

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Mackenzie Howe, Kennesaw State (Distance – Sr. – Watkinsville, Ga. – Health and Exercise Science)
• Third Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Crossed the finish line in first place in the 5,000m at the Clemson Combined Events Invitational
• Improved personal record in the event to 17:15.82
• Completed the race 38 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher
• Time ranks as the 29th-fastest in the NCAA

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Ryan Beaver, ETSU (Jumps – So. – Virginia Beach, Va. – Business)
• Second Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Won the triple jump at the Liberty Open with a top distance of 49’7.75
• His mark ranks as the top triple jump performance in the conference and 48th in the nation

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Charlene Charles, Jacksonville (Combined – So. – Alfortville, France – Communications)
• Second Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Broke her own school record in the pentathlon by compiling 3,906 points at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational
• Placed first in four of the five events
• Second Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Points total ranks as the 12th best in the nation and tops in the A-Sun
