MACON, Ga. – In the final weekend of competition before the sixth edition of the Atlantic Sun Indoor Track & Field Championship gets underway in Johnson City, Tenn., four different programs earned A-Sun weekly awards. Lipscomb’s Tucker Peabody and UNF’s Shelby Kittrell earned their first career weekly track honors, while Belmont’s Joe Frye and Campbell’s Jessica Dunston corralled their sixth and second weekly award, respectively.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Tucker Peabody, Lipscomb (Sprints – Fr. – Memphis, Tenn. – Biology)
• First Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Broke school record in the 200m with a time of 21.89 to take first place in the event
• Time ranks as fastest in A-Sun and 187th in the nation
• Added a fifth-place finish in 60m dash in 7.06 seconds at Hoosier Hills Invitational
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Shelby Kittrell, UNF (Distance – So. – Fernandina, Fla. – Psychology)
• First Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Raced to first place in 3,000m run at the Tiger Paw Invitational
• Time of 9:48.03 ranks 151st in the nation and first in the A-Sun
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Joe Frye, Belmont (Throws – Sr. – Roscommon, Mich. – Sports Administration)
• Sixth A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Won the weight throw and shot put at MTSU Valentine Invitational
• Passed his school record in weight throw with top throw of 65’4.75; 30th best in the nation
• Distance of 51’7.75 in the shot ranks 170th in nation; 3rd in conference
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Jessica Dunston, Campbell (Throws – So.)
• Second A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Set school record in weight throw at 59’8.5 en route to second place at Dick Taylor UNC Invitational
• Ranks 63rd nationally in weight throw and 1st in A-Sun
• Claimed fifth place in shot put with a mark of 37’9.25
