Monday, June 27, 2011 MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State led the way for the Atlantic Sun cross country and track & field programs this season earning two A-Sun championships. The Owls men’s team took the cross country and outdoor titles. With USC Upstate hosting the 2010 A-Sun Cross Country Championship, the Owls successfully defended their 2009 cross country title after three runners crossed the finish line in the top-seven spots. The Spartans’ Gilbert Kemboi earned top honors with a time of 24:00.84. For the fourth time in the past six seasons, ETSU won the men’s indoor title with victories in four of the events. On their home track, the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center, the Bucs accumulated 152 points just edging out the Owls. The outdoor track & field championship shifted to mid-April this season, but the change in date had no effect on Kennesaw State as they successfully defended their 2010 crowns with a victory margin of 66 points. Several men's and women's student-athletes represented the conference in postseason play this academic year including three at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June and 24 student-athletes for the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
