MACON, Ga. - North Florida's James Post and ETSU's K'vonte Scott claimed the Atlantic Sun Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, announced Wednesday by the league office. Post won the 800-meter run at the Gator Invitational with a time of 1:53.65, while Scott took broke the Buccaneer program record in the heptathlon (4,834 points) at the CNU Captains Invitational.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
James Post, North Florida (Jr. – Mid-Distance – Melbourne, Fla. – Construction Management)
- Second Career A-Sun Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor
- Took first place at the Gator Invitational in the 800m run
- His time of 1:53.65 ranks as the best time in the A-Sun this season
- Second-straight mee with at least one first-place finish
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Gilbert Kemboi (Jr., USC Upstate) – Won the mile run (4:22.63) at the Mountaineer Split Indoor Open
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
K'vonte Scott, ETSU (Fr. – Multis – Virginia Beach, Va. – Pre-Physical Therapy)
- First Career Field Athlete of the Week award
- Broke ETSU program record for heptathlon with 4,834 points at CNU Captains Invitational
- Placed second or better in six of the seven events
- Ranks 32nd nationally in the heptathlon; 4th amongst freshman
OTHER NOMINEES:
- David Shepherd (So., North Florida) – Top collegiate for second-straight meet with pole vault height of 4.91m at Gator Invite
- Kenny Sugishita (Jr., USC Upstate) – Claimed second and third respectively in shot put (15.61m) and weight throw (15.67m)
