MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate's Davey Dennison and Perrish Goggins swept the Atlantic Sun Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in program history, announced Wednesday by the league office. Dennison set the program record in the mile run at the Kent Taylor Invitational, while Goggins jumped to two top-four finishes.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Davey Dennison, USC Upstate (Jr. – Distance – Carlisle, Pa. – Business Administration)
- First Career A-Sun Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor
- Broke school record in mile run at Kent Taylor Invitational
- Finished in first place in the race with time of 4:15.77
- Ranks first in the A-Sun for the event
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Filip Jalovy (Fr., ETSU) – Set personal records in the mile and 800m runs at Penn State Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Perrish Goggins, USC Upstate (Sr. – Jumps – Columbia, S.C. – IMS Media)
- First Career Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award
- Earned two top-four finishes at Kent Taylor Invite
- Claimed second place in high jump with height of 6'7 (2.01m)
- Place fourth in long jump with mark of 22'2.25 (6.76m)
