MACON, Ga. - Northern Kentucky's J.J. Webber and North Florida's David Shepherd landed Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field awards as announced by the conference.
Webber notched a first-place finish for the Norse, while Shepherd finished third in the pole vault at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
J.J. Webber, Northern Kentucky (Fr. – Distance – Liberty Township, Ohio – Nursing)
- First Career Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award
- Crossed the line first in the 5000m at the SPIRE Midwest Open
- Time of 14:50.70 in the 5000m marked an NKU freshman record
- Ran to a second Norse freshman record with a time of 4:22.30 in the mile
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Jamal Pitts (Fr., North Florida) – Posted a school record in the 55m dash at the Jimmy Carnes Invite
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
David Shepherd, North Florida (Jr. – Pole Vault – Plantation, Fla. – Sports Management)
- Second Career Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award; first this season
- Grabbed third place in pole vault at the Jimmy Carnes Invite
- Mark of 4.85m is the second-highest in the A-Sun this season
- Currently holds the highest vault in the A-Sun of 4.90m that he recorded at the Florida Gator Invite
