Macon, Ga. – The regular season is over and athletes will soon be on
their way to Johnson City, Tenn., for the 2007 Indoor Track and Field Championship
set to take place on Friday and Saturday inside the Memorial Center on the campus
of East Tennessee State University.
The event, in its second year, returns to ETSU after a successful inaugural
campaign last February that saw the home team garner the men’s crown while
Jacksonville edged out former conference members, Florida Atlantic for the title.
Both are in a good position to retain their respective championship but will
have to battle a much tougher field if they wish to repeat.
Based on the A-Sun Top Performers List, the Jacksonville women would accumulate
146 team points for a 52 point win over Belmont. The Belmont men are also sitting
in second as a team on the top performers list, trailing ETSU (154 points) by
64 points.
