Gardner-Webb's Haynie wins First Indoor Weekly Award

MACON, Ga. – Gardner-Webb’s Elliott Haynie served as the lone Bulldog at the Virginia Tech Invitational this past weekend, but he performed admirably at the meet. He finished fifth in the pole vault, fourth among collegiate competitors. For his performance, Haynie earned his first Athlete of the Week award, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
In addition, his clearing height of 5.25m (17 feet, 2 ¾ inches) set a school record and earned the junior an NCAA provisional mark. Haynie, an accounting major from Fairburn, Ga., earned a spot on the 2007 All-Conference First Team for the Indoor season after winning the conference title in the pole vault. His vault over the weekend broke his own record for the event (17 feet, ¾ inches), set last season.

Jarrod Burton, ETSU (So. – Throws – Bastian, Va. – Education) -- Posted season-best performance in weight throw Friday; Burton placed eighth in the event with a heave of 55-05.50 (16.90m); which is over a foot better than what he threw at the Appalachian State Invitational in December (54-02.75)
Joshua McNair, KSU (So. – Throws – Hinesville, Ga. - Information Security) -- Took second place at Joe Hilton Tar Heel Invitational in weight throw; Placed sixth in shot put; Broke KSU Record in the Weight.
