Nashville, Tenn. -- In their first exhibition match, the Belmont Bruins women’s soccer team battled Montevallo to a 0-0 tie to begin the 2005 season on Sunday night at the Whitten Soccer Complex.

“We excuted our game plan, tried to stay in the game as long as we could, and win it at the end. We came up short at the end,” head coach Lisa Howe said.

Goalie Micaela Crowley (Hoover, Ala.) started strong for the Bruins recording her first shutout of the season.

“She played really well holding the shutout,” Howe said.

Howe believes the team will continue to improve as the season progresses.

“The team is doing fine we just need more experience together,” Howe said.

The Bruins will next travel to Evansville, Indiana to take on the Evansville Purple Aces on Friday, August 26th at 7:00pm for their season opener.
