DeLand, Fla. – Stetson men's soccer downed Rollins College 2-1 in the Hatters' second exhibition match of the season on Tuesday evening at the Stetson Soccer Field.

Senior Mauricio Ruiz (Sao Paulo, Brazil) opened the scoring for the match with a header after a throw-in from sophomore Tanner Wolfe (Hudson, Fla.) at 15:24. The Hatters then went ahead 2-0 when Josh Smith (Lutz, Fla.) hit the back of the net at 34:27 with help from Wolfe and freshman Arthur Prescott (Bradenton, Fla.).

Dennis Chin notched the Tars' goal of the evening at 37:28 off a pass from Jon Gruenewald.

Both teams remained scoreless in the second half for the 2-1 Stetson win.

Junior Jeff Smeraglinolo (Rockledge, Fla.), sophomore Evan White (Surrey, B.C.), and senior Michael Winchester (Houston, Texas) all split time in goal for the Hatters, while Jeff Rogers and Dana Singer shared time for Rollins.

Stetson is in action again next Friday, Sept. 2, as they travel to Orlando to face Central Connecticut State at 5 p.m. in the UCF Invitational. The Hatters will then play Lafayette in the tournament Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
