Karamatic and Reis Net Game-Winners; Weekly Awards

MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville junior midfielder Darko Karamatic and ETSU senior defender Guilherme Reis netted the Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the week honors for their performances in the opening week of the 2010 season. Karamatic and Reis both tallied game-winning overtime goals for their respective teams with Jacksonville prevailing against FAU and ETSU taking down Clemson.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Darko Karamatic, Jacksonville (MF/F – Jr. – Zevcan, Serbia – Sports Administration)
                • First career A-Sun Player of the Week award
                • Scored both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory against FAU
                • Tallied first goal of a free kick with a shot the curved into back of the net
                • Knocked in game-winner with four minutes remaining in opening overtime period
                • Leads team in goals, points and shots taken

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Guilherme Reis, ETSU (D - Sr. – Belo Horizonte, Brazil – Business Management)
                • First career A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award
                • Helped Bucs’ defense to a 1-0 overtime shutout at Clemson
                • Penalty shot in the 116th minute gave ETSU win over ACC foe
                • Allowed only one goal on the week in 206 minutes of play
                • Leader of defense that is averaging 0.50 goals against per game

OTHER NOMINEES
• Dan Meacock (F, Belmont) – scored 12th career goal against SIU Edwardsville, tying him for 12th in Belmont's record book
• Ryan Amons (GK, Campbell) – allowed just one goal in two double overtime games; seven saves at Richmond
• Maurice Beggs (F, USC Upstate) – delivered game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw at Georgia State
• Brett Petricek (GK, Mercer) – posted a five-save shutout to defeat defending Big South champions Winthrop, 3-0
