FORT MYERS, Fla. – After opening the 2010 season with back-to-back victories at No. 13 USF and at VCU, the FGCU men’s soccer team earned a spot in the NSCAA South Region rankings on Tuesday morning, snagging the fifth spot on the top 10 poll.

The Eagles’ appearance in the South Region poll is the third in the brief four-year history of the program. In 2008, FGCU was ranked in the South Region over the first two weeks of the season, reaching as high as No. 6.

The only school on the South Region list with a 2-0 record through Sunday, FGCU rounded out the top five behind top-ranked North Carolina (1-1), Duke (1-0-1), Wake Forest (0-1-1) and South Carolina (1-0-0). The Blue and Green are the only non-BCS school in the top five and finished one slot ahead of ACC foe N.C. State (1-1).
