MACON, Ga. – With a 1-0 shutout of No. 5 Ohio State and a 2-1 triumph against Charlotte, a 2009 NCAA Tournament participant, FGCU’s Adam Glick and Campbell’s Khalil Johnson garnered the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week awards, announced Monday by the league office. Glick registered the tenth shutout of his career as the Eagles defeated their second ranked opponent of the season, while the Fighting Camels defeated the Charlotte 49ers for the first time in 20 years behind Johnson’s two second-half goals.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Khalil Johnson, Campbell (Forward – Sr. – Kingston, Jamaica – International Business)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Scored both goals in a 2-1 defeat of Charlotte, a 2009 NCAA Tournament Participant
• First victory for Campbell against 49ers since Oct. 2, 1990
• Both goals came in the second half in the 60th and 75th minutes
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Adam Glick, FGCU (GK – R-Jr. – Leola, Pa. – Business/Marketing)
• Fourth A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award
• Recorded a 1-0 shutout of No. 5 Ohio State; tallied four saves
• Stopped penalty kick against Drexel in the 107th minute to preserve 1-1 tie
• Earned 17th career victory and 10th career shutout in win against Buckeyes
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Ryan Price (F, FGCU) – scored only goal in 1-0 victory against No. 5 Ohio State; earned all-tournament team honors
• Fredrik Brustad (MF, Stetson) – recorded a hat trick against Manhattan in the Stetson Soccer Classic; named to all-tournament team
• Diego Figueroa (MF, Belmont) – earned all-tournament honors for his two goals on the weekend
• Josh Shutter (D, Mercer) – scored two goals in a 2-1 win against Georgia State
• Aaron Schoenfeld (F, ETSU) – registered a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory against Winthrop
