Wednesday, October 06, 2010 FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s soccer team made headlines yet again with the release of Soccer America’s National Top 25 poll on Tuesday. The Eagles earned their first national ranking in program history, as the media outlet selected the Blue and Green No. 25 in the nation. “This recognition is outstanding for our school, our program and all of the student-athletes that have worked so hard to get us to this level,” said reigning A-Sun Coach of the Year Bob Butehorn. “Receiving a national ranking at anytime is very exciting, but achieving it at such an early stage in our program’s history is something to be proud of.” The Soccer America Men's Top 25 will appear in the College Reporter each Tuesday during the regular season. The top 25 selection from Soccer America falls on the same day in which the Eagles picked up six votes in the NSCAA National Top 25 voting, and just a day after FGCU was slotted seventh in the NSCAA South Region Rankings. The Eagles have now appeared in the South Region poll for three consecutive weeks and four times this season. |
