MACON, Ga. – The two remaining undefeated men’s soccer teams in the Atlantic Sun earned the Player of the Week awards with Stetson’s Ryan Asare-Bediako and FGCU’s Adam Glick taking the honors. Asare-Bediako registered two game-winners - one in overtime - in wins against ETSU and USC Upstate, while Glick enjoyed his weekend with two shutout victories against the same opponents to improve the Eagles to 4-0 in league play.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Ryan Asare-Bediako, Stetson (Forward – Jr. – Tampa, Fla. – International Business)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Scored game-winning goals against ETSU and USC Upstate
• Game-winner against the Spartans came in the second overtime
• Hatters now stand at 4-0 in the conference tied for first place with FGCU
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Adam Glick, FGCU (GK – R-Jr. – Leola, Pa. – Business/Marketing)
• Fifth A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award
• Recorded two shutout victories on the week – blanking USC Upstate and ETSU
• Totaled ten saves in total for the week, while extending his shutout streak to three games
• Shutout streak is longest in the program history
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Brandon Tarr (F, Belmont) – scored three goals for the Bruins in two conference victories
• Deion Jones (D, FGCU) – totaled five points in two conference victories
• Miguel DaSilva (F, Lipscomb) – added five points in wins against Jacksonville and UNF
• Justin Franz (MF, Campbell) – tallied a goal and an assist in the Camels 3-2 win against Mercer
• Nedim Hrustic (F/MF, Jacksonville) – scored twice in a loss to Belmont
• Michael Rankin-Byrne (MF, USC Upstate) – registered first collegiate goal against Stetson
• Ryan Corning (D, Stetson) – led the Hatter defense that allowed one goal in two A-Sun victories
• Daniel VanValkinburgh (GK, Mercer) – recorded a 1-0 shutout against No. 29 UAB
• Lou Manning (GK, Belmont) – made 13 saves to earn two victories on the week
