Asare-Bediako Earns College Soccer News Honors

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

DeLand, Fla. - It was a banner weekend for Ryan Asare-Bediako of the Stetson men's soccer team as the junior forward from Tampa was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week after earning Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors.

Asare-Bediako tallied the winning goals in each of Stetson's two victories over the weekend. On Friday night he scored on a header from 10 yards out in the ninth minute of the 2-0 shutout of East Tennessee State. Sunday afternoon he delivered the golden goal, again on a header, with just over five minutes remaining in the second overtime of the Hatters' 2-1 win over USC Upstate.

It was the first-ever A-Sun POW award for Asare-Bediako and the second consecutive week a Stetson player has taken home the award. Sophomore Jonathan Mendoza earned the honor last week. Asare-Bediako has scored a career-high nine points this season on four goals and one assist.
