MACON, Ga. – After scoring both goals on the week including a game-winner for FGCU, Deion Jones picked up the Atlantic Sun Men’s Soccer Player of the Week award, announced Monday by the league office. Campbell’s Ryan Amons earned his first A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award after registering his fifth shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory against UNF.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Deion Jones, FGCU (Defender – So. – Tampa, Fla. – Environmental Studies)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Scored both goals for FGCU on the week including game-winner against Stetson
• Overtime goal against the Hatters clinched at least a share of the A-Sun regular season title
• Leads the team in goals (6) and points (15)
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Ryan Amons, Campbell (GK – So. – McLean, Va. – Business Administration)
• First Career A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week award
• Recorded a 1-0 shutout against UNF; stopped four shots in the game
• Camels moved up to a tie for fifth in the A-Sun standings
• Fifth shutout of the season sets a career high
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Bradley Shuck (D, Belmont) – scored first career goal in win against USC Upstate
• Adam Glick (GK, FGCU) – made four saves in 1-0 shutout of Stetson for seventh of the season
• Nico Olsak (MF, Belmont) – registered a goal and an assist in victory against USC Upstate
• Mitchell Cardenas (MF, Campbell) – tallied two goals and an assist in game against Jacksonville
• Ronnie Hreha (GK, ETSU) – recorded two wins on the week including four saves against Belmont
• Colin Pugh (MF, ETSU) – added a goal and an assist in two Bucs’ victories this weekend
