Championship Field Set with Jacksonville-Stetson Tie

DeLAND, Fla. - Jacksonville's men's soccer team battled Stetson to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon in DeLand, Fla. to secure a spot in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
 
With the tie, the Dolphins (8-8-2, 3-5-1 A-Sun) earned the No. 6 seed and will travel to Macon, Ga. on Nov. 6 to play No. 3 seeded Mercer. The Hatters (9-5-2, 6-5-1) secured the No. 2 seed for the A-Sun Tournament with the result and will play the winner of the Dolphins and Bears match in Johnson City, Tenn. on Nov. 11. 
 


In the first half, the Dolphins struck first in the 18th minute as junior forward Tyler Williams scored on a header from a pass by freshman defender Martin Resch and junior midfielder Chris Helms for the 1-0 lead. 
 
The Hatters tied the match in the 80th minute after Dan Sackman delivered a shot in the lower right corner of the net on a header pass from Giulio D'Amore.
 
ETSU earned the No. 1 overall seed with the Stetson tie as the Buccaneers totaled 21 points compared to Stetson's 19 points. The Bucs play the winner of the No. 5 seed Campbell and No. 4 seed Lipscomb in the A-Sun Tournament Semifinals.
