Monday, October 31, 2011 MACON, Ga. – Stetson’s Kai Eckenrode and Mercer's Joey Heavner utilized clutch goals this week to help lock in their spots for the 2011 Atlantic Sun Men's Soccer Championship and earn themselves the A-Sun Player of the Week awards. PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kai Eckenrode, Stetson (Jr. – Midfielder – Springfield, Va. – Communications) • First Career Player of the Week award • Netted three goals this week including two against Jacksonville on Sunday • Scored the game-tying goal against No. 9 UCF on Tuesday in the 85th minute • Registered the golden goal at Jacksonville to clinch Stetson the two-seed in the A-Sun Championship OTHER NOMINEES: • Garret Pettis (Sr., Lipscomb) – Scored league-leading ninth goal in tie vs. Mercer to clinch A-Sun Championship spot • Ehjayson Henry (So., Mercer) – Tallied three points on the weekend including game-winner against Belmont • Xavier Silver (Fr., FGCU) – Netted the game-winning goals against Jacksonville and UNF • Aaron Schoenfeld (Sr., ETSU) – Drove home the game-winning goal against USC Upstate to clinch championship spot DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Joey Heavner, Mercer (Jr. – Defender – Landisville, Pa. – Business) • Second Career Defensive Player of the Week award; second this season • Scored the game-tying goal in 2-1 win against Belmont • Win against the Bruins clinched the Bears a spot in A-Sun Championship • Helped Bears pick up four points on the weekend, while allowing only two goals OTHER NOMINEES: • Nathan Ingham (Fr., FGCU) – Stopped nine shots in two FGCU wins to lock up the one-seed in A-Sun Championship
