MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference honored Will Betts of Mercer University as the Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year to highlight the league’s inaugural Academic All-Conference team.

Betts helped the Bears to the four-seed in the Atlantic Sun Men's Soccer Championship and a 8-7-3 overall record this season. The junior midfielder ranks 11th in the conference with 12 points on the season including five goals, which leads the Bears. Joining Betts as an unanimous choice to the Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference Team was USC Upstate's Timo Foerster.

The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams this fall to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better and participated in at least half of their team’s matches.
