A-Sun Puts 14 on NSCAA List; ETSU No. 3 in Nation

MACON, Ga. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced the academic awards for the 2011-12 academic year and 14 Atlantic Sun Conference programs earned recognition on the list for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

ETSU posted the nation’s third-best team GPA for Division I men’s soccer programs at 3.43 – only trailing LIU Brooklyn (3.47) and Western Michigan (3.45). The Buccaneers were one of five A-Sun men’s soccer squads to land on the list including Jacksonville, Mercer, USC Upstate and Stetson.

Nine of the A-Sun women’s soccer programs appeared on the list for the third-straight season. Northern Kentucky posted the top women’s GPA among A-Sun programs at 3.46, while Stetson was close behind with a 3.43 team GPA. All nine teams earned at least a 3.16 team GPA.

In total, five A-Sun member institutions placed both soccer programs on the academic list with ETSU, Jacksonville, Mercer, USC Upstate and Stetson.
