Monday, December 10, 2012

MACON, Ga. - FGCU sophomore Santiago Echeverri's pair of game-winning goals down the stretch of the men's soccer season helped him claim the CRONS Achiever Award for November.

Echeverri picked the most ideal times to provide his first two career game-winners. The first came in the 51st minute in the regular season finale at Mercer that clinched FGCU's third straight A-Sun regular season crown and host duties of the postseason tournament. Echeverri struck again in the A-Sun Championship game against Mercer, netting the game-winning goal in the 95th minute of overtime for the 1-0 win that sent the Eagles back to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

Echeverri was also named the A-Sun Men's Soccer Championship Most Valuable Player.

As the Official Motivation and Apparel Brand of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Crons began sponsoring the monthly "Achiever Award" in January 2012 to recognize what A-Sun fans deem the most notable performance each month. Echeverri received 61 percent of the fan vote for November. The vote takes place monthly on the A-Sun Insider blogspot.

The Crons Brand provides what it calls “high quality motivational apparel, merchandise, and accessories to inspire people to get better and constantly strive for their goals.” It also strives to reinforce positive messages to athletes about what it takes to be a winner and the importance of working harder than anyone else in order to reach their full potential.
