Heavner Headlines #ASunMSoc Academic All-Conference

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference honored Mercer's Joey Heavner as the 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year to highlight the league’s Academic All-Conference team.

Heavner, a Business major, owns a 3.77 cumulative grade-point average as senior with the Bears and has started in 78 games in his career with Mercer, which is the most in Atlantic Sun men's soccer history. His six assists this season in 18 contests is tied for the conference lead.

The Landisville, Pa. native has entered 80 contests in a Mercer uniform, which is tied for fifth-most in league history. Heavner helped the Bears to the No. 4 seed in the 2013 Atlantic Sun Men's Soccer Championship set for play on Wednesday, Nov.13th.

The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams in the 2011-12 academic year to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference’s mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better and participated in at least half of their team’s games.
