BUIES CREEK, N.C. –Campbell University senior Devin Sheppard has been named to the ESPN The Magazine / Academic All-America® Men’s Soccer University Division first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A starter in the central defense from Roxborough, Tobago, Sheppard owns a 3.95 grade-point average as a pharmacy major. Earlier this month, he was also named to the Atlantic Sun all-conference first team and the Academic All-District 3 first team for the second-consecutive season.
The only Camel to start all 19 games this year, Sheppard led Campbell to the best team goals-against average (1.18) in the Atlantic Sun Conference. He played in 73 career games with 66 starts. Sheppard helped hold Campbell opponents to one, or fewer, goals in 13 contests during the 2006 season. He served as the team captain for the Fighting Camels, who amassed an 11-2-2 record in A-Sun regular season games over the past two years. Campbell finished the 2006 campaign with a 10-7-2 overall record and a 4-1-2 mark in Atlantic Sun play.
A President’s List student and academic scholarship recipient, Sheppard has played with the Trinidad and Tobago U-17 and U-23 teams. He has won Campbell’s Eric Brodin Award for Academic Excellence in each of the last two years. He is a three-time A-Sun All-Academic Team member.
