Campbell University soccer stars Richard Jata and Josue Soto play different styles and come from different backgrounds.
But they also have many similarities, especially in their ability to impress their coach and teammates.
“(They are) special players,” Campbell men’s soccer coach Doug Hess said. “You are lucky if you can get one of those guys.”
Jata, a junior midfielder, specializes in taking on opponents on the dribble. Soto, a freshman midfielder, is a tireless runner and maestro of threading passes through opponents’ defenses.
They’re two players who draw a lot of attention. Together, they hold the key to Campbell’s success. Campbell is off to a 4-2 start, including a win Saturday over UNC-Asheville. Campbell opens Atlantic Sun Conference play this week.
