MACON, Ga. – Facing league favorite Campbell, Florida Gulf Coast goalkeeper Adam Glick was going to be facing a tough challenge. The Camels were the top scoring team in the league and when the two met in Fort Myers, Fla., the Camels fired 21 shots, 15 of which were on net. Glick recorded 13 saves, the most recorded by an A-Sun keeper this season, as the Eagles, picked 10th in the preseason, tied Campbell, 2-2, on Thursday. Two days later he faced a much lighter workload against Mercer, turning away four shots for first collegiate shutout in a 1-0 win. His effort this weekend culminated in him being named the Atlantic Sun’s Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.
Glick, a freshman from Leola, Pa. picked up his second Defensive Player of the Week this season. He also won the award for the week of September 10. He is the first Atlantic Sun men’s soccer player to win two Player of the Week awards. He leads the league in saves with 42.
The offensive star of the week was Jacksonville’s Sebastian Lindholm. He entered Sunday’s game against USC Upstate without a point to his credit. However, after recording the first hat trick of the season in the Atlantic Sun plus and assist for seven points, he is now ranked ninth in the league in scoring. The seven-point performance is three better than the second-best single-game performance in the league this season. Lindholm was the runaway choice as the Offensive Player of the Week the conference office announced on Monday.
Lindholm broke through against the Spartans with his first goal of the game, and of the season in the 19th minute when a shot from just outside of the box found the bottom right hand corner of the net. Less than a minute later, he had his second goal on a one-timer from Anton Axelsson.
Later in the first half, Lindholm went from scorer to distributor, as his corner kick was headed in by Brian Cocciolo. Lindholm picked up the hat trick late in the match when he headed in a pass from Axelsson.
