Parker & Skakle Honored as Academic All-District
|

Belmont's Brett Parker and Campbell's Austin Skakle received ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District accolades as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Parker, an accounting major, was named to the University Division First Team in District Four after gaining a grade-point average of 3.49. On the field, Parker has played in all 16 games for Belmont this season and helped lead the team to an 8-6-2 record, which places them one win shy of tying the all-time record for wins in a season. Furthermore, Belmont has already qualified for the Atlantic Sun Tournament, which will take place from Nov. 12-15 in Buies Creek, N.C. Parker has four goals and ten points on the season which places him third on the team in each category. He was named the A-Sun Player of the Week on Sept. 30 after he scored the game-winning goal in Belmont's 1-0 victory over Wofford at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept. 26. He also had an assist in the Bruins' contest against Furman on Sept. 28 at the same location.
A three-year starter in the Camel defense from Cary, N.C, Skakle owns a 3.71 grade-point average as a Biology-Pre-Med major and Spanish minor. He has been in the starting 11 each time during Campbell's nine-game winning streak, including Tuesday's victory over seventh-ranked North Carolina. Skakle has helped lead Campbell to the best team goals-against average (0.93) and the most shutouts (7) in the Atlantic Sun Conference. He has played in 44 career games with 36 starts. Skakle is a two-time Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic team performer. He has helped Campbell build a 17-3-4 record in A-Sun regular season games over the past three years, including an 8-0-0 mark this season.
