Stetson's Echtler Falls in NCAA Singles Championship

STANFORD, Calif. - Radford freshman Martin Sayer defeated Stetson sophomore Marcus
Echtler in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship from Stanford's Taube
Tennis Center.
#26 Sayer downed #113 Echtler in straight sets, 7-6 (8), 6-3 to advance to the
round of 32. Echtler, a Venice, Fla. native, wrapped up his season with a 15-6 mark. He was also named Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and First Team All-Atlantic Sun.
Sayer avenged a loss to Echtler earlier in the season and improves to 37-8
on the season. He will face #14 Somdev Devvarman of Virginia, a 9-16 seed, today
at 4:00 pm EST.
