Bears Take Down Gardner-Webb; Will Face Stetson In Semifinals

MACON, Ga. – The no. 3 Mercer men’s tennis squad defeated no. 6 Gardner-Webb, 4-0, on Thursday at the Atlantic Sun Championships. The Bears (13-10) struck early picking up the doubles’ point and closed out the Bulldogs (6-17) with three singles’ wins.

Mercer garnered singles’ victories at number two, three and five. At no. 2, Warren Woolfolk picked up where he left off all season, defeating Taylor Ferrier 6-1, 6-1. Mario Gil notched a win at no. 3 and Chapman Mitchell kept his solid rookie campaign going with a triumph at number five.

Mercer’s doubles’ tandems of Tobias Ohrstrom/Woolfolk and Gil/Mitchell also stayed hot with wins.

The Bears will face no. 2 seeded Stetson Friday at 10 a.m.
