Sum and Holtzhausen Earn Tennis Weekly Awards

MACON, Ga. – Campbell’s Davy Sum picked up his fifth Atlantic Sun Men’s Tennis Player of the Week award after leading the Camels to victories against Howard and Georgetown, while ETSU’s Kelly Holtzhausen earned her first career weekly award, announced Wednesday by the league office.

MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Davy Sum, Campbell (Sr. – Strasbourg, France – Business Administration)
• Fifth A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Opened the season with a 2-0 mark collecting wins against Howard and Georgetown
• His 90 total singles victories makes him Campbell’s all-time career wins leader
• Beat Howard’s Chris Brown (6-3, 5-0 ret.) and Georgetown’s Michael Clarke (6-0, 6-2) at No. 1

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Simon Janik, Kennesaw State – Led the Owls to victories against Xavier (La.) and Jacksonville State with his 4-0 record
• Juan Ramirez, ETSU – Earned three victories against ranked teams (No. 1 Virginia and No. 50 Binghamton)
• Matias Di Pasquale, USC Upstate – Rallied to defeat Clemson’s Cal Hilsman at the ITA Kick-Off

WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Kelly Holtzhausen, ETSU (Sr. – Johannesburg, South Africa – Exercise Science)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Alongside Tara Sheets defeated Emilee Malvehy/Ryann Cutillo of No. 52 Wake Forest, 8-7
• Holtzhausen and Sheets also downed Eastern Kentucky’s duo of Anouk Faure/Sophie O’Neill, 8-6
• Earned a straight-set victory over EKU’s Saioa Oscoz (6-4, 7-5)

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Alexandra Apostu, Kennesaw State – Claimed four victories on the week coming at four different spots in matches against Southeastern Louisiana and New Orleans
• Flavia Nagayama, Jacksonville – Lost only two games in her two singles victories as well as two in doubles play against Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M
• Natalia Nunes, Belmont - Went undefeated in both singles and doubles play against MTSU and UT-Chattanooga
